Us Against The World - A Nemi One Shot

"Hey babe" Nick smiled as he walked in from work
"Hey, how was your day?" Demi smiled then kissed him
"Nothing special really, same old thing" Nick replied kicking his shoes off
Nick sat down on the sofa next to Demi and put his arms around her. Demi cuddled into him and smiled as she always felt safe in his arms.
"How was your day babe?"
"Nothing too interesting but I do have some news"
"Really? What is it?" Nick looked puzzled and curious in what she had to say
"Well I don't really know how to say this" Demi looked down and started picking at her nails which she always does when she is nervous
"Wait! Is it good news or bad news?" Nick took Demi's hand because he could tell she was nervous. He knew her too well.
"I don't know how you are gonna take this" Demi stayed looking down and her voice got softer
Nick lifted her chin up, "Whatever it is you can tell. I'm your husband and I'll love you no matter what."
Demi takes a deep breath, closes her eyes, tightens her grip on Nick's hand and speaks, "I'm 2 months pregnant"
Nick didn't reply.
Demi slowly opened her eyes to see Nick with his other hand over his mouth and tears in his eyes.
"Nick?"
He looked her in the eyes, "I'm going to be a father?"
Demi nodded slowly
"Oh My God!"
"This is a good thing, right?" Demi gritted her teeth together, worried what Nick would reply. "Nick?"
"This is amazing Demi! We can finally have our own little family!" Nick beamed
Demi smiles but looks down at her lap again
"Babe, is there something else you need to tell me?" Nick could always tell when something wasn't right
"I've got cancer"
Nick didn't know what to say. Instead he held Demi in his arms and gently rocked her back and forth. Demi started crying as she knew she may not be around for much longer.
Nick whispered, "We are going to get through this Dems"


7 months later
At the hospital
The nurse walks in holding a baby, "Mr Jonas, would you like to hold your baby girl?"
"Of course I would" Nick smiled as he held his baby for the first time
The nurse starts to walk out the room but turns round and says, "Oh and Dr Smith is here to see you"
Dr Smith walks in the room, "Hello, how are you all?"
Nick looked down at his daughters face and smiled, "We're all here" He turned and smiled at Demi
"I've got some news for you Demi"
"What is it?" Demi pulled herself up out of bed
"It's the cancer" Doctor Smith replied
Demi looked down at the ground and her eyes started to fill with tears. Nick sat down next to her and kissed her forehead
"The cancer is gone. You don't have cancer anymore Demi." Doctor Smith spoke these words as smile grew across his face
"I don't have cancer anymore?!"
Doctor Smith nodded
"Oh My God!" Demi screamed and hugged Nick. She looked down at her new born child and kissed her on the forehead
"I told you we'd get through this babe" Nick whispered. "Its us against the world now"
Demi and Nick looked down the face of their beautiful daughter as she slowly opened her eyes and smiled
