Hello on this Tuesday, July 17, 2007. I'm Kristin Volk with a UPI Headline Update.

President Bush is calling for a peace conference between Israel and Palestine. Bush says he hopes the conference will restart stalled talks and move toward forming a Palestinian state. He's also pledged more U.S. financial support for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' government. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is expected to head to the conference that's scheduled to take place in the fall.

Louisiana Senator David Vitter is denying allegations that he had relationships with New Orleans prostitutes. There are media reports linking Vitter to a well-known prostitution case in New Orleans. But in a press conference yesterday with his wife by his side, he attributed those claims to political enemies. The Senator admitted he had made calls to an alleged prostitution business in Washington and apologized. Vitter's wife, Wendy, said she's forgiven her husband.

Environmental officials are investigating the effects of a possible leakage of low-level nuclear waste in Japan. About 100 drums were knocked over at the world's biggest nuclear power plant in Tokyo following yesterday's earthquake there. Some of the drums lost their lids. There were also reports of a fire and a radiation leak at the plant after the quake. Officials haven't commented on the situation yet.

U.S. Democrats are reportedly surpassing their Republican rivals in fundraising for the 2008 presidential election. In the first six months of the year, the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee reported raising more than $31 million. Republican counterparts reported an income of nearly $16 million. A former White House official says this is only a temporary situation. The official says there's a large Republican rally planned that will significantly boost their income.

That's all for now. For more on these stories and all of the day's news, go to upi.com. Thanks for watching.

  • Most americans are too ignorant to realize it's always been them against the whole world in regards to the United Nations General Assembly's "Peaceful Settlement of Palestine" resolution. In 1989 the vote was 153 to 3. In 2006 the vote was 157 to 7 for the "two state resolution" to bring peace. The 7 nations who voted against peace were Israel, USA, Nauru, Palu, Tuvalu, Micronesia and the Marshall Islands. The other 5 countries couldn't fill a section at Yankee Stadium. What a total crock is USA

  • People from world warII are still alive, don't listen to main stream media,do your own google search to know the facts.

Attack on Afghanistan & Iraq was not due to religious or terrorist reasons.

Think for a moment, how it would have been possible to deploy forces of 40 countries to run NWO or WTO agenda?

US$ if fake, than How US will survive as supper power without reliable currency,

Every American & house is in debt today.

kick out Zions it will be peace!

  • The Geneva Accords must be adopted by the Governments of both states and as the fanatics attempt to sabotage the peace process through attacks the peacseekers must work even harder to bring about an economically capable Palestinian state and not allow the attacks to influence their efforts towards peace.

  • Rice tells Bush that America has many Belly Dancing Academies which orginated from Arabic culture so Bush 43 proposed that Annapolis be the site so Arabs would feel comfortable because its a "Navel" Academy.

  • look at all them devils.....

  • Is the United States a police state society? Well either the americans have a very weak ignorant stance or the US is a police state. Take for instance those that arrested for holding signs up in protest of president Bush near his speaches. If the US constitution is still valid I would say their rights have been violated and maritial law in force at Bush's hands - Bush's dictatorship.

  • Bush seems to be filled with many faces. What I mean by that is that he has not been a president but one that is playing a part. He has failed on many fronts such as his environmental policies, secure border objectives, and a confident (not desperate) workforce. Debts in the US are stagering and the more borrowing the US does the less spending power americans (this effects mexicans as well).

  • As far as Bush goes I do think he has failed as a president. I'm not talking about the war campaign but I have to say that the US is a bunch of quiters. Some americans and the military seem to think that the US can do without the UN. Everyone has to jump though loops even the mighty US.

  • I don't know I have divided views on this. There's a lot of I guess you call them minorities that work in power and they raise a red flag to profiling "ethnic criminals". Obviously 911 should have been prevented but because they are more worried about seeming racist they neglect to apprehend these "ethnic criminals". Also FBI was onto Al Quada and because of personal pride within the organization they were not stopped and is why you had 911.
