Because NASCAR is wathched by relatively more Americans than F1 is watched by Europeans. Relatively ofcourse. And NASCAR turns a lot left and a little right. It's just that the avarage american racing driver is much better at turning left than European drivers are. It doesn't help either that British stockcar races are usualy driven clockwise and most European roadcourses are clockwise.
TruenoandLevin86 - No need to generalise Europeans. I agree with you. Indycar used to be a magical series. The crap we have to put up with now with Indy racing league is a joke.
Im from europe but i have to say mid 90s when i found out about CART i was hooked up instantly. The various tracks and great racing made it more interesting to watch then F1 for me. I still remember watching these races as little child in the middle of the night. When Greg Moore died (one of my favorite drivers), CART died as well. Still great memories to this era im missing it, these days no series on the world gets close to what it was back then.
Maybe my eyes are fooling me, but is that the FOX logo in the lower-right corner of the screen during the clip of the 2004 Cleveland GP (at 2:04) ? I know the races were all on Spike TV (like the current Versus deal, they had a great, enthusiastic crew but crap ratings and promotion), but were they re-aired later on FOX or something?
As short as it was since these races were run, it's a different time now. Open wheel racing has aged more than the calendar indicates since CART's demise. I sure miss those days!
as much as i love open wheel racing,if cart won out the supporters of the nixxed series would have felt this way. having said that, it really didnt matter who won because the second they split up in the 90's the sport lost credibility. like baseball has. (94 strike-steroids) im just glad that they decided to merge some of the cart into the irl like turbo, alternate tires, more road racing/street circuits, and in my opinion a cooler looking car than the dp01 the early cart cars were the best tho
Why Tony George ? Wtf indycar in VS anybody could see the races, you destroy the open wheel racing in america, this was beutiful rancing that you destroy not the bullshit that right now is. Is sad for marco and graham.

Maybe I'm just tired. Or full of it.
