This is my favourite version of Angel. Emmy's vocals are haunting in this beautiful duet.

I did 2 tours in Iraq, and Ive see the worst of humanity, and the shit that ive seen keeps me up nights and coupled with politics and the bullshit waste nature of what our society values...it leaves me feeling bitter and empty. this song is about the feeling a man gets when making love to a woman...where he looks at her and suddenly life is wonderful, he is needed and can provide, and through love, everything in life.as rough as it can be, makes sense and is glorious in her arms for that moment

No, I agree with you. While both have great voices, Emmylou's voice just doesn't seem to merge quite right with Sarah's. I am no music critic either and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Some may like it, but I prefer Sarah's here. Her voice carries a deeper more melancholy sound that this song needs. That is just my opinion though. Still a pretty song with the both, just not as effective solo to me.

I listened again (twice) and came away with a little better impression but still don't think the two voices blend that well. Of course I'm no music critic so if everyone else likes it I guess I'm wrong.

I agree - Sarah McLachlan doing her song alone is much better Emmylou does not add anything here.

I love both of these singers and the song but this duet just doesn't work. Emmy Lou's voice does not harmonize with Sarah's.
