The stem cell research debate has been thrown wide open since President Barack Obama has signed an executive order canceling the ignorant ban on federal funding imposed by the previous administration due to nonsensical and irrational ethics concerns (sorry Chris Matthews but they don't make sense). Some claims by Rep. Chris Smith in this segment are bogus since a blastocyst is at best pre-human life and are discarded regularly by normal biological function (ie. miscarriage), as well as morning after pill, or fertility clinic medical waste, and I haven't seen the line of 400,000 women waiting to be implanted by blastocyts for adoption. As Rep. Diana Degette has written about in her book, researchers have expressed the need for embryonic stem cell research as well as those not derived from embryos.

  • No only is Obama not transparent with the public...he isn't transparent with himself so he has no idea what he is doing, lol.

  • FACT: Obama didn't lift a ban on stem sell research. There was no ban in the first place. There as just a restriction on Federal funds going to research that involved the destruction of a living human embryo.

Also, it should be noted that over 50 cures have come from adult stem cells (nobody has ethical problems with those) but 0 cures have come from research that involves killing human embryos. That's a fact.

  • Yes the dummy ended up banning it again cause he doesn't know what he's signing.

  • Exactly, not a total ban, just a partial ban, good point.

BUT, on a positive note, there was an amendment (Dickey-Wicker, p. 280, section 509 of Title V) tucked into the omnibus spending bill Obama just signed that seems to directly contradict the executive order he signed before he signed this omnibus bill ...weird. So embryos still protected?

  • There was never a ban on stem cell research, the US Government did not fund certain parts of it with tax payer money..those who wanted to were free to put up their own money to fund it..your title of this bs clip is a lie.
