My 133 car train heads for the siding to let a passenger train go bye, just watch as the train rocks back and forth going across the road crossing. This siding is part of the original passing siding of the elmhurst model railroad club layout and the track was laid 20 years ago. Most of the main line track is being replaced with code 100 because the original track was code 83 and 20 years and hundreds of trains the track was worn down to code 40 in some spots(it got so bad some heavy trains would ride on the molded tie plates and vibrate as it went by).

  • The rocking motion is caused by worn track,no im kidding when the club first layed down the track back in the early 90,s they decided to have a siding with very worn and wavy track for the effect, they rebuilt the siding but the wavy track stayed right where the crossing is.

  • Thank you for the coments, will be back with some new videos soon.

  • So i failed,if you would read all the comments you would have read were i told you the siding is short i did this video so people would think it is longer then it is,but im glad you pointed out that i failed, next time im down at the club say hi so i know WHO YOU ARE!

  • Because i may have lied a little,There is no passenger train waiting and the siding is only 15 feet long, the train is getting back on the main line just behind the camera, but you would not know that if i did not tell you.

  • The elmhurst model railroad club is in the western suburbs of chicago il,in the town of elmhurst .We have open house every friday from 7pm to close and every sunday from 1pm to 4pm.

  • the first set of bulkhead flats at 4:49, what make are they? (Athrean, Atlas, etc?) They look to be set to have a "lower" deck compared to TTPX versions that I have.

  • Nice train.

I see it's blocked correctly as well.

From a prototypical standpoint,it would be unsafe to have that much weight TRAILING the freight.

    Nice job.

    Nice layout.

  • That's awesome, you guys should make like a MOW thing and replace the tracks like that lol, what's your longest train that you have ever ran? Mine is 60 cars

  • MOW please! Blessings.

  • That's crazy but I love it !

  • I would hate to wait at a crossing that long! Thats the longest HO scale train I've ever seen.

  • Dude the best ho scale train ive ever seen. amazing engine selection too. Great vid :)

  • I'd like to see the Helm Leasing statement for that power!lol

  • I Love watching long freights on club layouts that can handle them. The track work has been well done. And that train length WOW !!! Nice Job. What is the minimum radius on this artistry?

  • The bad track makes it al more real.
