This video shows that when filtering a signal, peak levels can increase, even though the volume of a sound decreases by removing frequencies from the sound. This proves that peak meters are inaccurate for measuring loudness and demonstrates that maintaining headroom is important during the audio production process.

  • The FLV of this looks and sounds terrible. Plus it sounds like Google's system is doing a bunch of auto level control which is killing the effect of this demonstration. :(
