  • no you guyz understand nothing ,it is a G# Phrygian in the key of R

  • Not D minor. The beginning is C Mixolydian then it modulates to G Mixolydian then back to C Mixoldian again and so on...

  • @StavrosMusic I know! haha! so much fun!! :D

  • @258lemons Yeah I have been on this one too the Bflat to F gives a good opportunity for a half step bend - very fun to work that in

  • Wish I'd found this track sooner!! thank you so much for uploading this piece of genius!! :D

  • First-The song is NOT Dm-My take is to treat the song like an F-Bb-C (I-IV-V) since the second chord used is a Gm7, its simply a substitute for Bb-

I use the F maj scale, G Dorian and A Phrygian (1st, 2nd, 3rd position-whatever) and the, yes, Dm scale (the VI from the key of F). So, in effect, you can say, yes-I'll play the Dm scale throughout.

This worked out well-treating the song as if it we're in the key of F and a I-IV-V (not blues though because its NOT a blues tune).

  • @Maegirom BTW it's an easy tip to play in first pattern of A pentatonic scale, but incising in C as tonic, i.e. a C pentatonic (major) scale, doing the typical first pattern from A.

Later, when song modulates to Am, you can use the SAME pattern, just changing the tonic from C to A.

Hope this helps and sorry, my english sucks.

  • It doesn't matter if first chord is 7th or not. The key is that chord PROGRESSION is C,Gm,Bb, F. That's a typical C mixolydian progression. Of course you CAN use Dm scale since it is relative to C Mixolydian, but tonic note is C, not D.

  • It's like I've heard this song before and I know exactly what the solo is note for note. :D

  • Thank You !!
