Teena Hughes - Silk Painting
In this videio I show my silk painting of an elephant which I am sewing into a wallhanging to be part of the ATASDA Maharajah's Garden Travelling Exhbition, starting March 2010.
The handpainted silk elephant is vibrant and decorated with flowers as they do for the Jaipur Festival in India. I've added gorgeous hot pink and lime green baubles to the silk painting, which I bought in Paris several years ago and was saving for a special project - and this is it :-)
I have been painting on silk since around 1980 and teaching silk painting in Sydney, Melbourne, Paris, San Francisco and Honolulu - pop over to my site to read more - maybe you can join me on one of my Adventures :-)

Hi there, for this project I used Sandwashed silk, a delicious fabric which is shiny on one side. Perfect for clothes, and heavier than habotai which is what I needed for a wallhanging.
Thanks for dropping by!
Cheers
