Seems to me the girls today get so much more programmed by managers and trainers that they've all become bland.
Though of course there was a cover story for public consumption, it seems to me it is quite possible that Vaidisova's career was cut short through stringpulling PRECISELY because she had a little TOO MUCH personality.
Her abrupt quitting and her marriage to Stepanek are certainly weird to say the least...
Yeah, Vaidisova was just incredible, a joy to watch. On top of that she didn't have a ridiculous & unnatural grunt as so many girls have today and never succombed to nerves. Very cool, very natural, extremely talented.
Most top players today are boring. Wozniacki, Azarenka, Zvonareva, Stosur. Even Sharapova who takes ages preparing for each point & who hasn't played a great match in ages.
Kvitova is extremely talented as well but personality-wise boring.
I loved Vaidisova and her game...she was so cool, never complaining or acting a fool on court. Very cool demeanor. Her game was also so awesome...she just didn't have the fire to win but was so talented. I hope she dumps that monster Stapanek and come back to tennis.
@Iadyjaja Yeah, cuz she already looked so much older, and possesed much more power than many women over 20 would ever have..she could easily, the only thing Wozniacki has on her is mentality, but tennis is 50% talent 50% mentality, and Vaidisova was mentally not that weak but just hated the game. Such a waste, still hoping for a comeback, at 23,24 maybe?
The thing that shocks me the most was that this girl was only 17... there is no doubt if she had a better mind for tennis that she would be the top of the women's game right now.
@Iadyjaja Vaidisova had that 'thing' what all these players like Azarenka, Radwanska or Zvonareva miss, that natural power and accuracy, on both serve and strokes. Her serve + forehand was ferocious and looked sexy as well, and she could hit winners from pretty much anywhere, I miss her shotmaking badly, she was inconsistent but never boring
Davenport, Henin, the Williams sisters, Pierce.

Imagine how different her career could have been if she'd beaten Serena in the semis.

@StewNWT
Azarenka is a lesser Vaidisova, a better backhand but a much much inferior forehand and a lot less power.
