The Dahon Mariner D7 is a tough folding bike with a weather proof coating to keep it in good shape. This is the best folding bike for people who need to treat their folding bike unkindly, either by leaving it outside, or just riding in any conditions. Check out the Dahon Mariner D7 folding bike.

  • Hello Peter, I am considering purchasing a folding bike. Currently, I am debating between the mariner D7 or the Vitesse D7hg. Could you help with an advice? I will be riding the in Minnesota weather. Any suggestions? Thank you!

  • @WiseFreedom

The Dahon Vitesse usually cost's much more but is currently about $150 cheaper than it was 2 weeks ago. At that price at is a much better deal than the Dahon Mariner. The internal geared hub would be much more reliable and pretty much 100% maintenance free, important for your climate. -Bert

  • Hey Peter! I notices that the Mariner can go through the grass and I must say I like that! but honestly speaking, what really the speed behind it and if so, can the speed be upgraded? thanks.

  • @Pogokoala The tires are wide enough for grass or packed dirt but not for real off-roading. The gearing is a little lower than a mountain bike but naturally you would not go as fast on a folding bike anyways. The gears could be changed just like on any other bike. BC

  • The heli-shots were awesome, good stuff as always "bike Jim." I'll have to second pouncecat365. The videos are more of a preview than a review. I'd be interested in comparing how fast you could go MPH-wise via cycle computer. Also the ability to climb hills. Long term usage reviews are more difficult because you can't possibly ride all of the bikes everyday.

Which do you like better P8 or Mariner?

  • @sudoshift Cool, thanks for the insight. It's hard for us to know what people are looking for so that is gold to us. Maybe I can start doing a few more in depth reviews and comparisons? Any other suggestions?

The Speed P8 or the Mu P8? Honestly I prefer either of them to the Mariner. The P8's use better parts and have a more "solid" feel. The Speed P8 has wide tires for tough commutes whereas the Mu P8 is better for speedy riding. Perhaps a comparison is in order? -Peter

  • @nycewheels Thank you! Bert

  • @nycewheels Hi Peter; alright Last and final of the finals Please Ignore my other one this one is serious and I'm not going to change my mind on it, I know each of them pretty well the only thing I don't understand is when it mention gear speed. But in your honest opinion Which one is quicker Mu P8 or Speed P8. I'm going to buy the bike the moment I get a reply. Really want one of these bikes! huge thanks Peter sorry If I bother to much.

  • @nycewheels hi Peter nevermind about that question. Its another crying shame that they do not sell the Mu XL in the United State.

  • @nycewheels Hi Peter I'm so close to making my decision and so far all the best Dahon I wanted are discontinued so it narrow it down to what I really want to buy and a great ride for my beat down neighbor hood and more. I am not looking much for a thick tires like Dahon P8. Plus I have a small car so between Mariner and Mu XL which one in your opinion is a better ride and tires? because I wanted it for decent speed, small, and great performance.
