The Lord of the Dead is similar to Hades, the Greek lord of the dead.
The Greek realm of the dead was called Hades.
It seems counterintuitive that in KQ 6 the Land of the Dead is similar to the underworld Hades. In KQ 2, there are allusions to Christianity... the monk gives you a cross.

Technically thats not hell. Its just the realm of the dead. Its kinda like the underworld of Greek mythology. There was a way to determine whether you go to heaven or hell through the gates of the Undeworld. OI forgot what the specific names for heaven and hel were in Greek mythology though. I think its the same case in this game.
