Monkey has everything to do with shaolin you dumbass. I've trained thheir for six months and monkey footwork was applied to the mantis style because of the lack of mobility of the mantis. It could strike well but had no foot work.
it's a modified mantis form....but mantis nevertheless. Oh yeah, the animal forms like "monkey" are associated with Shaolin just like mantis, tiger, eagle....
It's possible that they are mixed...there are a lot of mantis movements in there, but I also see some tongbei/fanzi (monkey)
