DyeStat German Fernandez Interview Part 3

German Fernandez is an elite distance runner and has risen to the top of the charts. In high school, he set the California State Meet Record for Cross Country at Woodward Park with a time of 14:24. He ended his Cross Country season with a 3rd place finish at what was then called Footlocker Cross Country Championships. He then went on to run in the World Junior Cross Country Championships in Edinburgh, Scotland and placed 24th and 1st among Americans.

During his senior year of Track & Field, he set the California State Meet Record in the 1600 with a time of 4:00.29, breaking Ryan Hall's previous mark of 4:02.62 Two hours later, he set a National Federation Record in the 3200 with a time of 8:34.23, besting the previous mark of 8:41.10 set by Dathan Ritzenhein in 2000. He then went on to set a National Record in the 2-mile three weeks later at Nike-Outdoor Nationals with a time of 8:34.40.

As a freshman at Oklahoma State University (OSU), he displayed excellent times at various Cross Country meets, including the Big 12 XC Individual Championship with a time of 23:47.7 for 8k. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury during the NCAA XC Championships. However, he rebounded with a Junior World Record in the Indoor Mile with a time of 3:56.50 at Fayetteville, Arkansas.

With such outstanding performances, we can expect great things to come from German Fernandez in the future.
