After a concert one time in Berlin, I saw Ozawa get into the back seat of a sedan with a couple of younger, giggling girls and drive off. Go him.

I think Ozawa is a very underrated conductor. His interpretations are elegant, well thought out, deeply felt, and he conveys his intentions to the orchestra with clarity and precision. Some conductors get lazy on the podium at times (Barenboim) and don't bother to lead the orchestra with diligence or care. Ozawa gives the orchestra and the music his full attention. That, combined with a great orchestra, and you get a great performance like this one.

For the past 40 years Seiji has been one of the world's best conductors and here again is a fine example of his exemplary talent.

Reminds me of John Williams. A bit of Star Wars perhaps.

look how young seji looks my goodness.

@flaneuse2000this's just the same way as von karajan did. Sir Simon Rattle's performance has more new ideas. Especially the sound is so rich and colorful.

The brass at 0:58 is so rich and sonorous it gives me chills!

Good God, this is well played!
Excellent! Much better than the Simon Rattle performance on YouTube, I think. The violinist could be more expressive in the solos, though...
