Fun introduction to Pi, proportions, estimation, and other concepts.
Princeton University Electrical Engineering graduate Eric Leonard emphasizes intuitive understanding (from the gut) over memorization.
BEWARE: THIS IS NOT YOUR USUAL MATH VIDEO!!! YOU WILL ACTUALLY LEARN THINGS IN WAYS THAT MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO FORGET!!
The first part of this video series introduced the concept of proportions with simple examples. If fully understood , it should be easier to follow the next parts of the video.
In the second part, we first estimated the circumference of a circle with a one foot diameter. We then use the concept of proportions developed earlier to extend this estimate to two larger circles.
Pi is introduced in this third part and is then used to obtain the circumferences exactly.
Finally, the student's learning is reinforced/tested in the fourth part with questions involving real world applications.
Enjoy!
