Larry Wessels, director of Christian Answers of Austin, Texas/ Christian Debater (websites: BibleQuery org, HistoryCart com & MuslimHope com) and Bob L. Ross, author, speaker, & director of Pilgrim Publications of Pasadena, Texas (world's leading publisher of the works of Charles Haddon Spurgeon; see website PILGRIMPUBLICATIONS.COM) discuss the Biblical doctrine of predestination.
The famous 19th Century preacher C. H. Spurgeon once said, "Men will have God everywhere except the throne." Men replace God's sovereignty to make His own decisions with mortal man's "decisions" to decide what God will have to do for them instead. According to man-made theology man is sovereign over God's decisions by way of man's "free will". But is this what the Bible really teaches? Does God have the ability to make His own decisions without the aid of man's "free will?"
Divine Predestination means that God has a purpose that is determined long before it is brought to pass. This implies that God is infinitely capable of planning and then bringing about what He has planned. The scripture speaks of Him as doing this (Isaiah 14:24-27; 22:11; 37:26; 44:7-8; and 46:8-10). Biblical prophecy in its predictive mode is to be understood accordingly. The salvation of certain people to be saved by God long before the world was even created (Ephesians 1: 4-11) is thus already a certainty. This is why Jesus can state in Matthew 7:13-14 that only a few people will be saved from the wrath of God to come.
"Predestination" is a word often used to signify God's foreordaining of all the events of world history - past, present, & future. This usage is quite appropriate. However, "predestination" also refers specifically to God's decision, made in eternity before the world existed, regarding the final destinies of individual persons. In general, the New Testament speaks of the predestination, or election, of particular sinners for salvation and eternal life (Romans 8:29, Ephesians 1:4, 5, 11), although Scripture also ascribes to God an advance decision about those who are finally not saved (Romans 9:2-29, 1 Peter 2:8, Jude 4). Thus "predestination" includes both God's decision to save some from sin (election) and the corresponding decision not to save others (reprobation). Naturally this Biblical doctrine is very unpopular in today's culture. People want a God that they can mold into their own image or something else (Romans 1:18-23). For those interested in seeing additional programs that emphasize doctrines "men love to hate" see our 11 hour television series entitled, "Unpopular Bible Doctrines" here on Youtube via our ministry Youtube account CANSWERSTV. Keep in mind God's declaration, "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways" (Isaiah 55:8). Show 1 begins a 6 part series

  • I believe in Arminan doctrine. Every man has a free will choice to accept christ!!

  • @jonnygotz2343 The problem is "men loved the darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil" (John 3:19) & are "dead in trespasses & sins" (Ephesians 2:1) meaning they don't have a "free will" to "accept Christ," get it? Sinners without the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit will only "accept the evil they love" not Christ. The Bible says the "natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God : for they are foolishness unto him" (1 Cor 2:14). "Free will" is NOT a saviour.

  • I believe Jesus Died for All Men and they have a choice to accept him or not. I dont believe God would just save some people and not others!! I believe he gives man the opportunity to accept or reject it, so you would go to hell based on your own decision and not because he just chooses to.

  • @jonnygotz2343 You've already declared on our other videos that you're a Mormon, a follower of the so-called prophet Joseph Smith, Jr. thus you believe Mormon doctrine not Arminian doctrine. Smith taught that God has a body of flesh & bones (except the Holy Ghost which is a differnt god), that God is an exalted man, God is a product of eternal progression (came from other gods), etc. Does the Book of Mormon teach these things? See our "Debate: John 3:16" on YOUTUBE & 23 other related shows.
