Congratulations, Philip, you've made a fine job of narrating your video for this famous railway line, the S&DJtR. Keep on making these videos and just perhaps, if you work hard on it, you'll become a professional film maker. :D

thanks, was walking down the opposite side of that tunnel the other day by greenway lane/ lyncome vale. its a shame they cant open it to the public so you could walk all the way from twerton to midford

Mark, Dennis, thanks for your comments. The boys went about this exercise with unbelievable enthusiasm. In truth it was an interesting walk, even mum enjoyed it. Not much of the railway left apart from the big structures seen in the video. We can recommend the Hope and Anchor pub at Midford (right by the viaduct).

Well done guys,i enjoyed watching this, always wanted to see the S&D but living here its a bit difficult to get down that way,i have a simulator with this route so it is brilliant to compare and contrast the real life and PC version! Looking forward to more.
Cheers,
Mark

Thankyou very much guys for doing this video, the last time my wife and I walked along the Bath Tunnels to Midford trackbed was approx 38 years ago.

Was this not the opening scene from the Titfield Thunderfieldbolt when the branch train exchanged whistles with the main line express on the viaduct above? I might be wrong!

Great stuff,i visited the area with my two lads during the ummer of 2004 and walked from midford to the portal of combedown tunnel, albeit a lot more overgrown then. The concrete block where your lad was standing was the site of the goods yard hand operated crane and i am sure the spigot of which was still there then. The time i visited before that was in 1993 and had a nice lunch and a couple of pints of real ale in the hope and anchor, must visit again and explore towards wellow.

Thanks I thought it was the base of a crane but not many clues left now. The area of the good yard is very overgrown but accessible.
