The compelling story of Pasang--a woman of Nepal's north-central Himalayan region--illustrates how simple it is prevent maternal death resulting from the on-set of eclampsia and pre-eclampsia. When basic maternal health education is provided to women and their communities, and when Skilled Birth Attendants are trained to manage these complications--the lives of women and their newborns can largely be saved. The remedy is simple, and functions even in remote, low-resource settings.
