On Oneohtrix Point Never's latest album, producer Daniel Lopatin casually saunters into the field of sample-based music, and kicks total ass.

What do you think of this album? Love it? Hate it? Why? What should I review next, eh?

  • loving this album. How's bout review Kate Wax - Dust Collision?

  • He barely just 'saunters into the field of sample based music' he's been using samples in his work for ages. If anything he's stepping back into an old field of his and - particularly his project as Chuck Person. His 'eccojams' being entirely loop based experiments. (they're all on youtube to check out) To me he's more taking his current OPN stlye and using the eccojam approach to get this new sound.

  • Power Of Persuasion reminds me a lot of Before I Leave by Fennesz

  • @maniswil2 That was a more productive point you have made.Let me enlighten you on how it hurts artists in my opinion. It stifles the option to work with and take time with a studio and Mic drums/amps, get natural reverbs and good takes and soooooo much more because there aren't any funds.I want bands to sound like Marvin Gaye,T.Rex,Beatles etc etc again. It's cool that we get creative on our ipads but it's not cool that we cant benefit from generations of studio techniques.

  • @valentino0214 Actually I was being a bit presumptuous in thinking about being signed, especially to a major label. I can't help that, I'm going on the idea the band is self-promoting and taking an independent approach to being a band and not relying on the hand of big business. However once again --I remind you people get into music because they want to be musicians. Also the best way for your bands music to get out is allowing people to have it for free. Unless you want to be Metallica.

  • @maniswil2 I am signed with a label, all my friends are singed with labels,Major and indie.I am not assuming anything.I make 50% of album sale royalties.Labels take over 50% of shows and merchandise.Did you know that?Or are you being a bit presumptuous? Dont make excuses, new indie bands are not getting the chance they deserve because of people like you.In other words you're a bit of an idiot.

  • @valentino0214 You assume people make music only for money. You also assume bands make a dime from their actual songs and cds, and not from concerts and tours. In other words your a bit presumptive.

  • STOP DOWNLOADING! Bands deserve to get paid. It doesn't make them "sellouts"..If your boss doesn't pay you for your job at Mc d's you are getting ripped off like downloaders rip off bands.Cool bands cant recoup costs from their labels and are getting dropped. We will be stuck with GaGa and Beiber cuz 12 yr olds pay for music more than "indie" kids do. It is also compromising the state of the internet. It's a human problem not a music problem.Give something back to music and the net.

  • definition of douche chills right here

  • the songs on this album remind me of the times when i get sleep paralysis......i like it :)

  • im sorry but i dont think ill ever be cool enough to enjoy the song remember off this album. is this actually accepted as genuine music? i honestly dont know i am completely ignorant to the subject pleeease enlighten me.

  • Definitely not an easy listening album. The beauty is within the deep complex sounds and loops. Your review was great, you put words to my thoughts, and I thank you for that. Such a great album.
