@7t8h4z You know what was also a tearjerker. When Mona Tyler (Played by The Late Fra Heflin), died on All My Children, and Livia Frye sang "You'll Never Walk Alone". Another Sad Scene was when Mac Cory died on Another World and a Afrcan American Lady Sang, the cast was crying, and I was crying at home.
I remember this scene so well from the movie it was in. Ms.Jackson was so moving singing this song, even the actors looked shook up and near tears. A great legendary singer. Also, the movie, Imitation of Life, was a great movie, highly recommended. and a real tear jerker.
My all time favorite gospel singer, the late great Mahalia Jackson. She is too often imitated but can never be duplicated. She is a true African American icon whose legacy should never be forgotten. RIP Ms. Jackson, you make us proud!!
I remembering hearing this for the first time as a kid. my mother made me sit down and watch this.It really touched me and had me in tears. A great talent beautiful voice!!!! can never be replaced. I Love Mahalia!!!
Never heard a voice like this before. I had to go out and buy loads of her CD's. Most difficult thing is listening to her, as she makes me so upset, The film Imitation of Life in which she sings this at a funeral, should carry a public health warning! I was so down for days. Truly an amazing lady who can reach inside me and sing to my soul. I feel humbled to hear her beautiful voice. Thank you for posting this. I managed to get to the end!
