What are time zones? Why do we have them? To help demonstrate this sometimes difficult concept, a variety of techniques are used, including animation and fast-motion photography. "Why We Have Time Zones" shows how sundials and clocks are based on the movement of the sun across the sky. Also clearly shown is the arrangement of time zones in North America. Wow this is pretty poorly explained. It dumbs the concept down so much to make it misleading. It should show which way the earth is rotating; after all, those cities could be on the same longitude which would make this example incorrect.
