mudmen were a 3 piece band (craig gillis bass, mike caffes drums, kevin larmon guitars(now with JOAN)) with percussionist and dancer/muse (jill burkhart) living and playing and recording in nyc east village in the late 70's early 80's. mudmen played out frequently and were a popular club band.playing at cbgbs, danceteria, a7, pyramid, mudclub, limelight.. influenced by african rhythms like many bands of that era. liquid liquid ,talking heads ,dog eat dog(bud), konk.. mudmen also had the no new york noise sound; being contemporaries of arto lindsay, lounge lizards, sonic youth, dna, james chance bush tetras. these are recordings done in the three years the band was together. done live in a four track tape studio for the most part.this song was the B side of let it go. recorded in the bigger 24 trk studio in the 1980's. all the noises are bass and guitars(no synths).. we were reacting to a politcal situation in nicaragua. It felt like that war was becoming another vietnam.. what goes around... the vocal part i recorded in garage band recently.. it was a part we wanted to do ,, but never got it together. the scratches you hear are real, from vinyl. The bass and drums pattern is in 7/8 time and the guitar is 4/4 on top. mudpal k

  • "3 time war vet" Ive been to cambodia and seen the remniance of the plot era ! Please people don't get this confused with current events. People these days love to compare conflict with past conflict. Each is different and each should be respected as it's own.

  • wow how cool thanks!!!!

  • I used to have your 45 and saw you play around NYC several times. I remember one time at Dancetaria when you opened for Sonic Youth on a snowy winter night. I taped the show on my new walkman. Wish I had that tape now!

Thanks for posting the great music.

  • gota say,me thinks this, half decent(eng by way cant help it)please kick up some more.

  • Hey, thanks very much! Great songs - and very cool guitar work. I appreciate it.

  • screw you, mellon.

  • Wow. Haphazardly assemble a jumble of unrelated images, tie together with various transitions, prop it up with some Disneyland Jungle Cruise background music (don't forget the disjointed text commentary at the close) and you've got another YouTube political science lesson for the mass of "check writing nincompoops" (thank you, Frank). Read your world history and think for yourselves people, or we are all doomed.
