Many people in the United States, were sadly impressed (to use a kind expression) while watching the last episode of the PBS series "Black in Latin America", which referred to the African heritage of the people of Mexico and Peru.

There in national television, a black-faced character depicting a black man, a proof that racism in Latin America is worst that imagined. Afro Peruvian activist Monica Carrillo, of the non-profit LUNDU, described Peru as "perhaps the most racist country in Latin America".

Here is a video I recorded with a comment, especially for those Black Americans who are still very upset about this type of racist media produced in Peru. I want you to know that the "Negro Mama" character does not represent the values of most Peruvians.

Most importantly, I want you to help Peruvians to understand why this racism has to do with oppression. The same racism that justified slavery and class division in the U.S., is used to keep most Peruvians in poverty.

Please watch and share this.

  • good video bro, i agree the media oushes the image that white is perfect and all that, i know alot of you might say oh its just a joke and everything, i thought that too, but the main goal of the media is to keep the certain people down because they are the strongest., just think about it.

  • Bravo!!! Keep up the good work! Your efforts to fight white supremacy through media and other forms is not going unnoticed! May Yemaya Blesss you and Keep you.
