Starting his set at the Madison Square Park "Wainwright-palooza", Loudon introduced his latest work in progress, "High Wide and Handsome, " aka "The Charlie Poole Project. Charlie Poole was a popular 20's North Carolina bluegrass banjo player , now a musician's musician, often featured by Bob Dylan on his Theme Time Hour Radio Show (that's where I heard of him.) New York City, June 17, 2009
Well yeah. Get the set.

Love the song,
like the performer,
dislike this rendition... I've been listening to Charlie Poole all morning, maybe that's it.

"f-springsteen"? LWIII is a national treasure. This has no bearing on the work of Bruce Springsteen. Go listen to "The River" why don't you before you decide to drop an f-bomb on Bruce?

I have played this several times over and love it just as much as his songs about his 'cheesy life' as he calls it.
YouTube is wonderful and so are the good people who post these great videos to spread the word.

I love this song even though it is not about him and his family.
Very catchy with great jangling guitar backing, up to Loudon's usual high quality and style. Many thanks for sharing.

Great show! With the Wainwrights/McGarrigles you always know who The Boss (f-springsteen) is. A show at The Bottom Line (RIP), things were folky and quiet, hard to hear sitting at the stage behind the piano. Loudon's voice was booming when he joined in. I never saw much of him that evening, but he instantly brought a power and excitement to the occassion.
