bobfoc, they dragged it out because they didn't know how many seasons it would last. They decided during season 3 that they would have to end it, so they gave it 3 more seasons to do so.

I really hope lost finishes soon as it has been one of the best shows for many years. I should have only lasted for three seasons four max but has been drawn out and lost so many viewiers and its respect due to the money hungary idiots behind the show. It had the potential to be one of the greatest shows ever and will now just be remembered as a show that was good but dragged on far too long. loosing many of its viewers as a result.

I believe that Jacob is actually Jack! How? well, we know he is in 1977, then it's very possible he will stay there and in 2008 he is an old man. Based on the character's evolution it's very possible.

Also I dont think the writers win by introoducing a new actor playing Jacob, its a better story if it's Mathew Fox or our great friend Charlie! or the freat Desmond!
