  • so wait is the whole outro played with the low e string tuned to C ?

  • yep. while playing a completely open chord you tune down a full step from D to C and then do the shapes you can see me doing on there

  • scratchy elbow

  • hehe, yeah... i think it was more of a nervous tick. but thanks for the comments... nice one on amity.

  • Great tutorial, thanks a lot.I've been wanting to learn this for a while. Sounds very accurate.

  • no problem -- are there any other fiddly elliott songs you're interested in learning? i've got a few pretty nailed

  • fantastic video! i've been trying to learn this song, and your explanations of the independent strumming patterns really helped break down the song. i have a much better technical appreciation for the song now. thanks. also, if you'd like to play Angel in the Snow on a video like this, I'm sure a lot of people would love to see it!

  • When Elliot played it live, he played a regular C chord, avoiding the low D string, letting the high D ring. If you listen to the recording, it's the same thing that the second guitar track plays while the other does the de-tuning.

Also, that "mystery chord" is C#7b9.

  • This was extremely useful. I thought it might have been tuned to C the whole time but now that I listen to the actual song again it sounds like he's tuning it down during that part. I would never have thought of that unless you put it in your video. Thanks!

  • 25 scratches! thats a record!

  • great tutorial, although learning the right hand picking seems difficult... how long did it take for you to learn?

  • possibly my favorite song in the world. Thanks a million.

  • hell yeah perfect lesson. thanks a bunch man.
