Long Beach Police have obtained a new lead in the murder investigation of 29-year-old Philip Williamson who was found shot to death in an alley in the 1500 block of Pine Avenue in Long Beach on March 24, 2011. Investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying the male subject seen in this surveillance footage, wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants, captured at a convenience store in the Los Angeles/Beverly Hills area on the day of victim Williamson's death. The male subject left the location in a black Toyota 4Runner. The receipt for the purchase made by the male subject was later found inside the victim's residence.

Investigator's are attempting to determine if the victim's involvement in the distribution of marijuana to medical marijuana collectives in Los Angeles County played a role in his death. Anyone with any information related to this investigation is urged to contact Long Beach Police Homicide Detectives Scott Lasch and Donald Goodman at (562) 570-7244. • It was probably a cop that did it. Don't thye murder unarmed suspects?

  • Can Detectives cross reference cell traffic (calls) received at 11:34 (AM?) from the nearest cell tower as the suspect received a phone call (as seen on the video tape)?
