Interesting! Is there any festival in Spain also named after Casals?

Nothing against Saint-Saens, but I've always had a feeling that French composers got into complexity for the sake of complexity. I think the French have an inferiority complex when it comes to music,- whatever the Italians and Germans/Austrians didn't do was done by the Slavs- Russians, Poles, Czechs, so the French see themselves as also-ran, so complexity is one way of compensating.

@althesmith Naah! I prefer to think in purely musical terms. There is no inferiority complex! Just historical circumstances or luck that in turn affects composers.
