Chris Kunitz skates in on the empty net near the end of the game, he is hooked by Niklas Kronwall and misses the net. Referee Bill McReary rules that it's not a goal and Kronwall gets a two minute hooking minor penalty instead. What do you think? Goal or not?

  • i think he had control as he was hooked...If the ref had called a penalty shot with the goalie pulled would it be a penalty shot on an empty net? Oh and Spashaei, " if he was any good he would have it" if he wasnt any good would he be in game 4 stanley cup finals playing for the winning team?

  • The player doesn't take the penalty shot on an empty net. The goal is automatically awarded if the referee feels the player was clearly hooked.

  • it would've been called a goal, not a penalty shot on an empty net

  • @jimih64 Selective memory span

  • Wow terrible call

  • no control

  • no goal awarded, didnt have control of puck

  • @unplanedlayer no they just give him a goal

  • Does it really matter? Down by two goals, only a 1:30 left, and 4 on 5. Your comparing the disadvantage of a team having to score 2 short handed goals in 1.5 min versus a team scoring 3 even strength goals in 1.5 min. There's literally almost no strategic advantage to taking the goal. BTW wasn't this the same series where Pittsburgh had too many men on the ice with the entire arena screaming too many men for over a minute?

  • @hockeymatt1994 how did the hook not make him lose control of the puck? he had to take the shot with 1 hand on his stick because of the hook?

  • good call.

  • @dflemingeast thank you. the second part wasnt necessarily to negate you, just correcting

You are correct about the call, but not the reason. He was on a breakaway, but the hook did not make him lose control, therefore no goal.

Not trying to be a jerk

  • @hockeymatt1994 ur a jack ass i was agreeing with the call
