Wow, I'm glad I speak German too. I'm dying to go on a Japanese Exchange Programme (my family has promised once I'm at least 16). In school, we have to learn French and German (in UK). Good job they do.
Dein Wohnzimmer ist sehr gut!

hi
wie lange hast du gebraucht, um so gut japanisch zu lernen, lesen und zu sprechen?
Hi Elcesa!
Could you tell me the meaning of the term:"sutra"???
AlanMolstad 3 years ago
a sutra is kind of like a prayer with defined words you have to say or mumble.

In the normal japanese home that has up such a shrine, is it "used" much?
Who mostly used it around you?

well if they have a shrine, they belong to Soka Gakkai (a Japanese religion) and I think that they also normally use it, which would mean twice a day for praying, and for placing presents and stuff in front of it so the dead ancestors' spirits can enjoy them.
in my host family, my host father did it the most times. but when my host grandmother visited us, she also would always at first sit in front of the shrine and pray.

I hope you can read this.
At :23 seconds you show a shrine, in normal life how have you seen this used?
At :37 we see a wooden thing that looks like it should be outside, whats the story?
At 1:03 we see stairs, they appear added and are just hanging there?

The shrine is used for a Japanese religion called Soka Gakkai. You pray sutras in front of it and it is believed that the dead ancestors linger around the shrine.
The wooden swing is there because my host parents loved stuff made of wood XD
The stairs are attachable to the wall and lead to a storage space above my room. You're supposed to put stuff there that you rarely need, but my host family had things up there that they seemed to need all the time, so they just always had it on the wall.
