I served in the military for 6 years and this guy is 100% right. when people say "support the troops" they don't give a damn about the individual soldier (alot of them) they just wanna say that to make themselves feel better for some stupid reason. People in small towns who would normally call the cops on me for being in their lily white neighborhoods are kissing my ass while i was in uniform. Alot of people were cool but the military houses alot of douche bags.

i mean, i do think that IN THE END, it's an awful choice to join the military regardless. but it's important to understand what makes people do it and joke/argue about that and not just reduce it to some simplistic "they're assholes/morons".

same shit with pedophiles, drug addicts, etc.

and especially considering some of doug's other material (e.g. when he talks about getting rid of all the assholes on the world), one would think he would get that.

i really like doug but the way he often simplifies stuff probably does more harm than good in my opinion.

e.g. this thing here about people having a choice... he doesn't mention the fact that it's exactly because people want to do something more honorable that they join the military. with all the shit from FOX & co, how could they even realize that they're doing even more harm in the name of the military than if they fuck people at home?

and many more aspects like that. life isn't that simple.
