Early 2003, in Berlin for 2 weeks, I was spending time with my good friend Andrea at kunsthaus "Tacheles". While he worked in his studio - a brilliant Painter - this is apparent when you see his studio, (paint for a rug - canvas furniture) We talked Afghan and smoked politics.
I penned this song, about love/war with an old strat, I loved it, so i needed to record it.
I recruited old band mates Pete(drum&bass) and Key(solo) Two days later I had a song. Now I needed a video to remember this moment.
Having with me, only my Nikon digital Still camera with a low resolution video option. (Oh, I missed my Babies) Work with what you got, right.
So, to make things worse, the Nikon will record video for only 60 seconds at a time!
I cut in a series of 60 second interval clips - intro/verse verse/chorus chorus/bridge and so on.
Editing on the flight back to New York only to look up at a flash; "battery low" (the 3rd and last one) I am just about finished " dam it" "what, we landed already"
I cleaned up the "turbulence" and authored a dvd the next day. What a Trip!
By the way, the boys in the video are from a very intense band called ELKE You got to see them live. Well, have a listen. I hope you like it. Werner Petrikat
