The only problem I can see with the whole "Freedom of speech" thing is that the internet is a multinational community not bound by the laws of any particular nation. YouTube has the legal right to govern what content is posted on their website.

But I do have to agree that some of their censorship is bullshit.

@Pilotwannabe62 Sure - it´s hard to find a common ground for literally billions of people using social networks. But then again: They didn´t ban my videos because they did not want the Chinese to see them, but because they want no nakedness, not even for the West, not even for people over 18 or 21, and not even in art. The REAL problem are their terms and conditions, that offer less freedom than the constitutions of most western countries.

@MegaFlow666 So, if you look at Web 2.0, you see a tremendous progress in making information available to the world. And that´s great! But there is a kickback: Private companies are replacing constitutional rights with "Terms and Conditions". Which IS a problem for democracy.

@ huanalfredo & kobidobidog: I do not agree, that free speech is a criminal activity implying child abuse or sex with your pets. And that´s exactly where the problem is: YouTube treats illegal stuff the same way it treats provocative images and speech even in artistic contexts: They ban it. And YouTube treats sampling culture ("copyright infringement") the same way too. And they do not offer ANY possibility for legal settlement. That´s what I call CENSORSHIP.

@myself: Of course, they are slightly more liberal with copyright infringements and offer a protest form (which takes months to be answered though).

@kobidobidog I don´t know about satan fornicating. I do know, that zoophilia is illegal in most areas of world, and it CAN be quite abusive. I am getting at something different: 1. YouTube is banning content that is LEGAL (in the western world). 2. YouTube is increasingly banning content for copyright infringement and becoming part of the traditional pre-internet copyright industry - a real backlash for web 2.0 sampling culture.
