hey does this guy age? I just watched a video from 1991 and he looks the same age, he may even look older in that video. He's like perpetually 39. Even back in the early 80's, late 70's he looked 39.

lol he said he has a good doctor

I have to mention how nice Al's bends and vibrato are; all people talk about is the shred. Even when he was 17, 18 with RTF these elements of his playing were mature and intact. His bends seemed to burn with perfect intonation; many can shred; not many can bend, as so many vids on youtube demonstrate. LOL! Al is one of the all time greats.

al is king!!!

At least the Granger brothers sound good.

sure, this is definitely not his best solo, but that does not make him a bad guitarist.
its so easy for people like konshess to talk down on famous people on the internet... if u spent ur time practicing rather than bickering about someones solo you might actually be a good musician yourself and have something to back up your statements, but as it stands you're just a wining person on the internet who listens to other good musicians so you think you can bash on others
so wheres ur solos? lol

@ Konshess
I cant believe you think that Al Di Meola is a bad guitarist. He is one of the best at his thing, he is extraordinary. Of course there are other Huge guitarist specialized on other stuff, like Satriani, Malmsteen. But as for fusion u have to say that Al is one of the best.

And everyone of those people who you have mentioned consider him one of the greatest guitarists of all time. you don't get to play with the likes of paco, jaco, stanley, and numerous others of "legends" without earning their respect.
-
Meola is a legend. Go and watch him play his famous acoustic pieces (ever listened to his composition "Mediterranean Sundance"?). To me it doesn't make any sense to compare these names. Santana embodies rock in its pure form, while Meola means jazz, fusion and a great sense of latin elements. Meola is a true master of musical expression in its cultural diversity (jazz, tango, flamenco etc.).
So please rethink your statement ...
