- It wasn't marketing, it was American radio's unwillingness to play Canadian bands. Since the 1970s, the CTRC required radio stations to play 33% Canadian music, the "Canadian content" law. A lot of bad music got played, but it forced record companies to put money into developing Canadian talent.

Unfortunately, US radio then *and* now thinks "they only get played because of CanCon". A lot of great bands never get airplay south of the border because of it.

A friend of mine and I used to sing a parody of this song called, "He Ain't Gay, He Just Walks That Way". Little did I know that the guy I was involved with at the time *was* gay. Good times....

Great song... didn't realize they were from Saskatchewan and sang so many other songs I grew up with... girl with a problem, Teenland, Things I do for Money... so many CDN bands like 'em I grew up with w/o really noticing or finding out about till now! They got some airplay but no real mkt'g! Still they resonate with me more than the pop crap like Madonna that go so much attn!
