  • @j0hnxjxrambo The paired cigs being given per individual to the bride's father/male relatives are to comfort, confide, acknowledge, respect and mainly to assure the bride's father/male relatives that she is safe and full intention is being sought for her hand in marriage with their blessings.

Hope this answers your ? .

  • Good general info. To add insight, here are some clarification. From what the father said this sounds like a Hmong Green 'leeg' wedding, slightly diff from White 'dawb'. The Maid of Honor is not called Lady Green. It's a Lost in Translation and wording mishap. The better (proper) designation is 'ntxhais txais ntsuab' - literally 'maid receiving bride'. Most say 'niam tais ntsuab' leading to Lady Green translation.

  • Is this teng thor from Minnesota...dunno which part but im thinking rochester?

  • can somebody tell me why the boyfriend's father give out cigarette to tell the daughter's parents that their son has taken their daught to be his wife?

  • a good description of marriage. & yess the drinking is being respectful & knowing what to call your in laws & others

  • Advise:

Drink = Death, both words begin with D.

If U shall drink, gosh use a different cup, do you want to pass around germ from person A to person B, to person C, ..., to person N. If person D is infected with disease X, then everyone who share the same cup is likely to receive the same X.

  • what the mother said doesn't sound mature or like a grown up to be talking' "to be sold like animals"... we understand that as girls we feel that way already, but it just says that to her thats how she sees it or treats her daughter to be raise and sold like animals. a more mature person wouldn't even say that even if she feels that way or know that a lot of women feels that way.like Mr. bee yang said, see it as a token, like a gift from the groom's family to the bride's family. not to be sold

  • WOW Fun I love weddings :)

  • Not really. Originally, the issue of taking the money is a love insurance thing. It's to make the guy have respect and love for the girl in the long run. It's more compicated than just selling a daughter. I think we should follow our traditions because it's more interesting to watch. More people (including other race) will enjoy watching this than an ordinary American wedding.

  • u call ur daughter an animal???...

    shame on u...
