@inukami23 I recommend you wiki. This explains why it's poisonous and why it can cause cancer. Also there are serious problems found in the brain after consuming aspartame. It has an effect on your concentration. But more common problems are losing taste in your mouth, migraines (which I suffered from before), feeling sick or dizzy, and gaining weight (!). When I stopped taking this together with MSG, I lost 5 kilogram (and I only weight 61 already now, stable now) and my migraines stopped.

@inukami23 Formaldehyde is a dehydrogenated alcohol. Formaldehyde is toxic as it is formed when methanol is processed thru the liver, it also removes your eyesight as it attacks the optic nerve. (Its also used in making bio diesel.) Try Wikipedia on most of the chemicals and look for a section called toxicity if it's added. Explains alot.

Mmm, this could explain why I've been having migraines ever since I started really getting into gum. My friend always has lots of gum to give to me, so I chew it. And although I'm going to do more research on it I would also like to know other viewpoints on the topic.

On a side note can anyone tell me specifically why aspartame is bad? I've seen some of the comments but other then the methanol, I think it was? I didn't see anything else wrong with it.

@RogueTerenasEU clearly you are very miss guided. Aspartame has caused so many health issues in the USA I have friends who have given it up and all symptoms gone. I suggest you look deeper in to apartame.. Wood alcohol is one of the parts, which is highly toxic to humans. I also have a friends who mum worked at the FDA when it was approved, she informed her family to avoid it as it bad. and she is a scientist. that was back in 1981.

British doctors warn people about the risk, due to high problems its caused in USA.. if you wanna drink it mate u will die young, try watching Food INC, it will open your eyes, I from UK kinder glad cos the USA food chain is a toxic mess. we dont clone meat in UK, never have had meat recalled in the 37 years I have been alive, USA has about 10 a year.. seriously do some research for your own sake. its your health at risk.
