Bubble Organ by Aaron Wendel

This is an instrument created in 2007 by Aaron, a student in my Instrument Construction course in the Sound Dept. at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I am constructing a similar organ out of pvc and clothespins. I want to use the clothespins as piano keys, but I'm not sure how to cut off the air with them. I tried aquarium tubing, but the clothespins aren't strong enough.

This was a course titled "Instrument Construction" offered in the Sound Dept. at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where experimental and interdisciplinary approaches encouraged to using sound as a material for making art. I encouraged students to use their imagination and to use readily available materials. Some of them worked long and hard to make working instruments that have never existed before.
