@Arekisu180227 Ah, I understand. I don't disagree with you there, my parents never even had a screen in the house until I was three, and for a few years after we got a TV all we would use it for was Mr. Rogers (educational show). That's how I was raised, that's how I'll raise my children, and hopefully the trend will continue. Thanks for your insightful videos.
@TheShayminfreak2 or parents either. Apart of parenting is being aware and limiting it altogether. Watching TV, whether its violent or not, puts you in a passive state of mind and desensitizes you to things--you start to think TV is the reality. At the center I work at, we do not show the kids under 4 TV. They get maybe 10-20 min of screen time educational computer games everyday. Even talking to your children about what their seeing won't change what they're seeing.
@TheShayminfreak2 I am disagreeing with the notion that "proper" parenting means media plays no real factor--you can let your kids play 3 hours of bloody mortal combat so long as you "talk to them" about what their seeing. Like I said, I work at a daycare, and today a 4 year old came in and said, "Move over you little B****!" His mother had no idea where he had heard it from, and I by no means would label her a bad parent. This video isn't about solely blaming media.
@WITSGOBLUE But they won't complain. They've been taught to not complain, they've taught their kids not to complain, and the few people who could complain have been dead for a while. They're all being brainwashed by the media. It may sound like a science fiction story or a joke, but it's true. I wholeheartedly agree with what you say, but it's unlikely that will happen. The influence will keep growing stronger and stronger, and soon, our entire lives will be puppets of commercialism.
@Arekisu180227 But you just said it yourself. If the parents aren't present, then certainly, the media will have negative effects on these children. In fact, I don't see what you're disagreeing about. Certainly, the media plays a large role. But it's up to the parents to determine how large of a role, and what role.
Strawberry SHortcake, Scooby DOo and other bland shwos could be just as damaging on the oposite side. The 70s and 80s also could be called vilent since Scooby and the others had vionce, but do you want pansy caqrtoons? The 1980s was the worst decade of kids TV, on both fronts.
@180DegreeMason I totally agree with u..violence has been part of mankinds history waaay before television..only thing I notice is that u do get desensitized..I remember being grief-stricken when seeing people resort to trowing themselves out windows during the twin tower attack & the media over-played the same horrific scene to the point u could cry anymore & just watch as if it weren't real anymore...sad!
I thought this was going to be deeper, instead it's really conservative. The problem with television is not sex or violence, children are not as dumb as you make them out to be in this video. It relies more on parenting than media. Poor parenting leads more often to violent and sexually active kids. I was exposed to much violent content in media, I played Mortal Kombat growing up, but I was raised with love and I didn't fight people. I agree less with advertising. I like art, movies, and media
Bravo! I am writing a research paper for the University of Tennessee, and am inclined to cite you. Very well done! Parents need to step up and control their children but as for commercials, I am a little worried until this desensitized nation starts complaining

Rule of thumb: go with hard statistics over one person's experience.
