@chilledoutkevin Thank you so much for the reply! I am going to try and have a seamstress similar to this one. It is just so beautiful. Your sisters is so lucky that her mother could make her dress. Actually, my mother used to sew, maybe I will ask her if she is interested in trying something like this! Thank you so much, and congratulations to your sister on her dancing career. I hope I am half as sucsessful in mine. :)

RinceorNosretep--The newer styles do not stick out as much as the 3 or 4 panels do. Some do, but opthers, like the soft and bubble skirts do not.

WOW i want her dress i wish we could wear those

I love her dress too! It's beautiful! I wish they would go back to the good, old style of dance dresses. I don't fancy wearing a skirt that's stiff as a board and sticks way out to the sides =(

I would be interested to know too. It is certainly hand made and hand embroidered, and much better than that horrendous cheap looking tripe that they are so insistant on wearing nowadays!

This is kind of a long shot, but... Does anybody know where she got her dress? I love it!!
Hi Guys. This is actually my older sister. The dress was made by my mother for vourneen when she was 13yrs old and she loved the dress so much she didnt want a new one so bits kept getting added to make it longer as she got older and she danced in this dress til she was 18. She still has this dress at home and she is now in her early 40s. To note vourneen is an accomplished irish dancing teacher and herself has won numerous world chamionships, all ireland championships and ulster championships.

That's fantastic! I so miss the days when mothers made their daughter's solos dress. The greatest dresses came from that time.
