Academic Freedom is an obvious attempt to side step the Supreme Court's ruling on Creationism and the Dover's court ruling on ID. You're right on that, but you're confused about the differences of philosophy and science.

They have another one out now, SB 733.
Its the creationists latest attempt to undermine your educational system and indoctrinate your kids into their particular brand of Christianity, over and above all others.
This one basically states that in some fields that supplementary texts may be introduced to challenge accepted theories.
sounds good right? except these texts can be full of lies and do not have to be verified by any peer review system.
Disgraceful.

We do not know for sure. Science knows nothing for sure. We know with about 99% certainty that evolution is fact.

It was never considered a scientific fact that the Earth was flat. Science is a fairly new process of inquiry. It was considered common sense. From the vantage point of standing on the Earth, it does somewhat appear to be flat.
"Who knows?" The evidence is overwhelming that evolution occurred and still does. There is NO evidence of "Intelligent Design" however.

Let it be taught... in a class about religion.
Creationism does not stand up to the scrutiny of science - otherwise it would be taught already. Just because that may be inconvenient to a Bible-literalist's point of view doesn't mean science should stop being science for their sake.

Not only does the discovery institute want to push their indoctrination above real science, they want to push their religious views and their literal interpretation of the bible above all other belief systems including other Christians by indoctrinating children in their brand of Christianity.

Evolution only a theory? The word theory, in the context of science, does not imply uncertainty. It means "a coherent group of general propositions used as principles of explanation for a class of phenomena" (Barnhart 1948).

And just how long was it considered scientific fact that the earth was flat? My point is that you can scientifically prove an elephant can hang over a cliff by just handing on to a daisy if you really want to. Unless you were there to see what really happened, you can't say for sure. Who knows, maybe none of the above happened with creation.
