A man who would go to sea for a living would go to hell for a pastime!

Ah, this reminds me of my days in the Royal Netherloands Navy! Well... most crewmen would simply stay in their bunks, because you can not do any normal work in these conditions. But the crew on the bridge and in the engine room have to keep the ship going, so they are on their posts. It´s harder to eat... but the coock is coocking meals, and even as officers we would come down - on the destroyer I was on - Hr. Ms. Limburg, Holland, Zeeland - and eat in the mess (cafetaria) But it´s tiring.

Always glad I was on a carrier! Now, let me say this, anything made by the Russians is bigger, heaver than anything made of of the same class for the USN. Look at this destroyer and then look at a USN destroyer and you will see a BIG difference - so, then consider what a US destroyer would be like in this sea state!

I feel sick even watching it.

i think i would be launching my dinner being on that ship
This is destroyer "Admiral Ushakov" (formerly "Besstrashny", type 956 "Sovremenny"), board number 434, in the Northern Fleet from 1993. Really 7940 t and 156 m long.
Very far from "torpedo boat". Now you have an idea what is the Arctic storm (or "shtorm" in Russian).
