My Model 1 Sega CD seems to be having problems reading disks. When I first got it it would eject the CD right after I would put it in. Now it seems to keep the drawer closed but doesn't seem to spin or read the disk. I haven't had a chance to open it up and have a look yet but if anyone has any idea of what the problem might be please leave a comment or message me.

UPDATE:

Fixed the Genesis' reset button.

  • @mistertitanic You have to press the reset button.

  • How do you open the Sega CD?

  • The noise tells me that the drive is attempting to play the cd. It could be as simple as the top magnetic cross bar that holds down, and spins along with the CD is stuck, and cannot rotate. Also, the rubber layer on the drive itself maybe worn away.. At any rate, I suspect that you've not got much of a problem to worry about.

  • whats up with youtube just yelling COMMENT PENDING APPROVAL!! oh well im gona try this one more time try cleaning the expansion port on the sega genesis that connects the cd to the genesis

  • Pluse push the lazer to middle of cd to reset

  • My older bro had one an I just fix it, open it up turn it on push close-butten an then unplug by hand/ little screw-driver turn gear til cd plate is tight to back/ all the way into hold plate,, then plug back in,, the bigist thing is that people push cd back in by hand & an that overextends the gears,,

  • Have jou cleant the lens with a dry kutip ?

  • man, bummer. i hate it when i get stuff im excited to play and then find out its broken or doesnt work. i hate it even more when i cant fix it, lol.

  • any news on your sega cd? my own does the same, endless red blinking, but sometimes it rejects the disc by itself and both green/red lights blinks...

sometimes i can make it read music discs, when it WANTS to read them works fine, it doesn't give any error, it doesn't skip any track... so this makes me suppose it's not the lens, i should replace capacitors and see what happens.

  • cotton bud i ment to say
