The Town of Ackland is a good example of mining Co greed , New Hope Coal said the mine would be good for the locals and provide employment now the mining company has bought the whole town and sold off all the buildings the town does not exist now except for 2 home owners who refuse to sell, what will they do when the power to the town is cut?

the farmer may own the land but they don't own the mineral rights.. it's happening in the usa to..so you might want to look into the old laws..

If these mines go ahead, your remaining right will be to starve and die, along with millions of others.

Coal mining IS permanent damage, but nothing can compensate the loss of productive land.

As long as they pay for the rights it's thier right. If they destroy the land farmers have the right to get compensated.

What would be bad is the goverment not allowing them to sue if their lands are damaged or if the goverment took their lands and gave them to the coal companies.
