We traveled to Mexico recently to see these majestic mammals. It's disturbing to see that Japanese whalers have once again set out to kill whales in the name of research. Everyone is aware of what a bogus statement that is, unfortunately when it comes to their own interest governments around the world have blood on their hand so it is difficult to raise a fuss.
Canada slaughters seals for commercial reasons, while stating that the seal slaughter has some cultural history, ignoring the majority of Canadians who object to this barbaric slaughter.
Wolves in Alaska, gorillas and elephants in Africa, tigers in India are all under attack. Even once common species like pacific salmon are disappearing.

Japanese whalers have begun their annual hunt, with a quota of 935 minke whales, 20 fin whales and 50 humpbacks. Japan's Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada said eating whale meat was an important part of Japanese culture.

Japan says there are genuine scientific reasons why it kills hundreds of whales each year in Antarctic waters, where its fleet is currently operating.

Critics, including the Australian and New Zealand governments, insist that such arguments are simply a cover for the sale and consumption of whale meat, which is banned under an international moratorium on commercial hunting.

($ 173,688.73 dollars) on Friday in the first auction of the year at Tokyos main fish market, an official said.
Japan eats a quarter of the worlds tuna, more than any other country, but faces pressure from environmentalists who have blamed the global fad for Japanese food for bringing tuna numbers to the brink of extinction.
In Japanese restaurants, late season jumbo maguro, as the giant bluefin is called, sells for as much as $20 for a two-bite serving. Belly meat commands a premium.

Imagine that one fish can fetch $177,000 dollars now, the price keeps going up each year as stocks decline.Perhaps the last giant blue fin tuna will be worth millions to connoisseurs of sushi.

  • Baby seals look so good and they are so comfortable. ONCE YOU WEAR BABY SEAL YOU NEVER GO BACK. TRUE STORY BRO.

  • dumbasses! a single whale eats acres and acres and acres of marine life a day 365 days year for 25-55 or more years. a whale eats more biomass of marine life 1 month then an entire commercial fishing fleet takes in a year. the ocean cannot sustain all whales appetities indefinitely, a % of whales MUST MUST MUST be killed off for whales own sakes and sake of everything in the ocean. 1 whale eats more in lifetime then every salmon in state of oregon washington and alaska eats in a year! kill em!

  • @PivotproDH,

Thats a weak excuse. Cruelty is cruelty fullstop. Its not ok to bash KFC chickens and cut off their beaks and stomp on them because they are not endangered like whales. This is just a convenient excuse meat eaters make so they dont have to change their diet
