MOANIN' LOW by Violet Day (Vaughn DeLeath), recorded Sep 4, 1929 and here released on a Broadway label 78 rpm record. As you can see, this record has been just about played to death. I wouldn't ordinarily post something this worn out, but I think this tune is worthy of a listen even with the problems. Enjoy!
Some enquiries revealed this is indeed Vaughn DeLeath -
"According to Ross Laird's "Moanin' Low" discography, this is VDL, also
using the pseudonyms of "Gloria Geer", "Helen Richards", "Gladys Woods"
and "Marian Ross" on the same session, 4 Sep 1929." (Thanks JV)
Yes, most Definitely this is Miss Vaughan DeLeath, singing this wonderful Blues Song.

Fairly positive the vocalist is the wonderful Vaughn DeLeath. More than positive, in fact!

Never heard this one before - thanks for posting.
Who was Violet Day? A pseudonym perhaps?
Yes, it's been played to death, but it must be a fairly rare recording... and I have a remarkable scratch-and-crackle filter between my ears...
Thanks again.

Nice recording! Somewhere I have a version of this with Leo Reisman and his Orchestra...Has a male vocal refrain too, very interesting. Thanks for posting!

I like this better than Streisand's 1975 version!
