Taken from a series called "Great Modern Writers", this playful documentary introduces James Joyce's most famous work "Ulysses". It includes fantastic adaptations to film from passages of the novel. It also includes excerpts from a book written by Joyce's friend, the artist Frank Budgen, entitled "James Joyce and the making of Ulysses". Amongst those interviewed is author Anthony Burgess.

@cottageorgan It's internal monologue, everyone has it. One of my good friends didn't realise until very recently he wasn't the only one - he thought he was mad for a while.

I am in no way comparing myself to Stephen Dadaleus or Joyce or anyone, but that;s exactly how my mind runs from the moment I get up tp the time I sleep. I try to meditate to help focus it, but it's no good at all. I find myself involved in three things at once while desperately trying to focus on one!! Probably the reason I never managed to finish Ulysses. One minute food, the next death and always back to sex...ha ha . Anthony

Wish I knew this actor's name---He plays French detective Poirot in the Masterpiece Theater series, and has had other smaller film parts that show he has real depth and presence. Here he even looks like the tiny cartoon of Bloom that Joyce drew! As said elsewhere, thank you for posting this whole program: many really wonderful aspects
