World War I: Battle Of Tannenberg 1/4

How the British Army fought its first battle at the belgian town of Mons. Despite initial success, the British infantry were forced into retreat after two weeks. Yet as the Germans pressed forward to Paris, apparently invincible, French Commander-in-Chief General Joffre slowly began to build a more solid resistance - which would lead ultimately to Allied victory.

I really like the intreviews with the WWI veterans. Those men are all gone now. No one is left from the "Great War", the war that changed everything for Western Civilization.  Why did Europe self-destruct? Why such a needless war?

That's why I HATE American documentaries. The narrator is always so tacky and unbearable to listen to; plus American 'docos' tend to be like a cheap D-grade action movie, whereas British docos focus on the strategy and politics, and all the good stuff.
