Looks like the Pathfinder is great for hockey moms and people getting groceries at the corner store. That's about all.

@grifter116 Hi again. When someone calls me an idiot, it's disrespectful. That said, I agree. I have read many favourable reports of the Pathfinder's off-road performance, which could mean three things: The report was biased to please advertisers, as happens in most magazines., or, the vehicle we have in SA is a different spec with different clearances and electronic management systems to yours, or our vehicle was faulty. This vehicle was a surprise and disappointment to both me and John.

I haven't written any manuals or books, but I served 20yrs in the REME before I retired, so I've recovered a lot broken and stuck military equipment in some of the most extreme off-road environments.

I mean no disrespect and I appreciate the effort you put into posting the video. I'm just trying to understand the reasons why the Pathfinder failed so miserably, when all the specs and personal experiences would state otherwise. As an example, Top Gear got the X5 stuck on wet grass, yet it beats the Pathfinder up loose sandy incline, yet I've towed a 5000lb boat through 15" deep sand, up inclines at Fraser Isl. that's all. I don't think the Pathy was given a fair chance.

@grifter116 you are misunderstanding me. My point was that a vehicle needs to be able to drive in full locked four-wheel drive in low AND high range to be an effective expedition and off road tool. If a vehicle's traction system disengages in high range or can only be applied when in low range, severely limits its performance.
your video doesn´t say anything about the offroad quality of this car. How can you test offroad with a standard serial gear? all other cars in the video are modified.
hmmm............. like this you can get it stuck anywhere

@7mt7 You make a valid point, but not ALL the other vehicles were modified. The car makers loan us cars for tests and they are always unmodified, so we do our best to compare standard vehicles, because as you suggest, one needs to compare apples with apples. Our conclusion that, without an increase in ground clearance, this vehicle was very limited.
